- When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option e.g. "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
- So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info).
- Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
- Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
- Then press 3 "for all other questions."
- Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don’t enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
- Then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
- It should then transfer you to an agent.

ACTC payments + 3rd Round EIP payments
- The IRS announced it will issue information letter (Letter 6419, 2021 Advance CTC) Advance Child Tax Credit (ACTC) to recipients starting in December 2021, and
- (Letter 6475 - Your Third Economic Impact Payment), EIP $(1,400), paid in March of 2021, to recipients of the third-round of the Economic Impact Payments (EIP) to EIP recipients in late January 2022.
- Tax preparers should use this info when preparing a tax return to reduce errors and delays in processing. These letters will assist taxpayers when preparing their TY2021 federal tax return in 2022. Learn more --->
